Gilera runner very strange noise.

Postby darkelf1000 » Sun Oct 18, 2015 5:49 pm

Hi,
Hope someone can pin down the problem with my gilera vx 125.
It has begun to make a very strange sound from the transmission cover AFTER i pull up and stop.
Came home after a journey and a whining/metal sound was coming from the tranmission cover.
Lasted about 5-10mins and gradulally faded to nothing.
Also i put a new battery on as part of my maintaince and the moment i connected the last terminal the bike try to turn over and keeps trying until the key is turned to the "on " position. no starter button was needed.
bike rode ok speed wise and ideled etc., just this noise after stopping.
Any one have any idea.
All transmission is stock and i have not fiddled with anything as i am not mechanically minded with this.

Hello and welcome to the forum :scoot1

If your not good with working on scooters then it's probably wise to get a bike shop to look at electrical & transmission problem

Transmission needs to be striped & checked and belt , rollers , shoe's & possibly clutch replaced , Do you have any service history of belt replacement :?:

Electrical problems can be a nightmare but is likely a worn through wire or corroded terminal somewhere :(
